Activities

We offer a wide variety of activities in connection to your visit to the area or your stay at Hotel Kallgården. You can do anything from relaxing activities such as massage or baths in wooden bath barrels to adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities like Ice Driving in Porsche or VW Golf R cars. Below you will find examples of activities that we offer. If you have other requests, please, do not hesitate to ask.

Sauna & relaxation
- Book a visit to our relaxation area. Here you can get a massage and relax in the sauna, or just simply relax after an active day.

Wilderness camp & bath in the hot barrel
- Enjoy a starry night from a wood-fired outdoor bath barrel and a refreshing dip in an ice-hole.

Go dog sledding
- Join us for an extraordinary adventure, with coffee or lunch on the mountain in a traditional Swedish wooden cottage.

Horseback riding
- Ride on Haflinger horses from Austria. Book a half-day, full day or longer trips of 2-3 days.

Fishing
- There are several mountain lakes and streams to fish in. We can help you obtain a fishing licence or provide you with a fishing guide. You will have a good chance to catch trout, char, grayling and perch. We also arrange fishing trips to waters that would otherwise not be available. Summer fishing with fly rod and reel, or winter fishing with ice auger, jig twig and maggots.

Bear Tracking
- In mid-April the bears wake up from their winter hibernation. Join us for a full day excursion tracking bears! Guide and lunch included.

Hunting
- We are able to offer exclusive hunting of elk, white grouse, forest birds, and hare. You can, for example, book a three day hunt with hotel accommodation for two nights and one night on the mountain with all meals included. Contact us for suggestions on different types of hunts and a quote. (Elk season lasts from September to October, bird season from August 25 to February 28.)

Hiking
- The hotel's surroundings offer a wide range of hiking trails. For example: take a 3 km hike up Suljättens näsa (the nose of the Sul Giant) from Konäs. Or you could climb to the peak of Åreskutan, 1420 meters above sea level.
Experience the old mining road to Huså on the northern side of Åreskutan, or hike from Bergsjön in Kall to the Bergsjö mines.

Snowmobile
- In Kallbygden you will find a variety of groomed snowmobile tracks, one of which passes just around the corner from the hotel. We offer half- or full day excursions with a guide and lunch, contact us for a quote and price.
(In order to drive a snowmobile you need a driving license that allows you to drive a snowmobile in your home country or a special licence for off-road vehicles.)

Cross Country Skiing
- Near the hotel you will find about 10 trails, ranging from 1.5 km to 20 km, several of which are floodlit.
The 2.5 km track is lit until 10 pm, and the 5 and 7 km tracks are lit until 9 pm. (1/12 – 31/3)
The trails run through forest, marsh and mountain scenery in beautiful rolling terrain.

Alpine Skiing
- The hotel is located only 35 minutes from the largest ski resort in Scandinavia – Åre! Åre is easily reached by car or with weasel from Huså. The weasel takes you up to the the high area of Åre in about 20 minutes, and you get back by using the off-piste trail. There are plenty of slopes suited for children in the Björnen area, to where you can take a shortcut over the mountain from our side of Åreskutan.

Car, Rally & Racing Activities
- Kallbygden is has a strong connection to the motor industry and has long been characterized by car and rally tests.
A number of World Rally Championship teams use the forest roads in Kallbygden to test their cars every year, and the hotel has a unique opportunity to offer several different adrenaline-pumping motor activities in co-operation with some of Sweden's leading motor event suppliers. For example:
- Ice Driving in Porsche or fast VW Golf R cars
- Riding along in rally cars on special stages
- Driver training – EcoDriving, Safety Driving, Advanced Driving

Weddings

Book your wedding with us! We can offer you a complete package, with everything from accommodation / party room to floral arrangements.
We co-operate with a florist who decorates the church and the party room and creates beautiful bridal bouquets etc.
We can also arrange for a hairdresser and a make-up artist to come to the hotel if you wish, and we book artists, DJs, and a photographer, Niclas Ström.
